Howdy! It’s been a while! I started my new job last Saturday, and it’s been a very busy week.
I have gone through a lot of training, and I’m really looking forward to really getting into things. It looks like it’s going to be a great fit for me.
I’ve got my little office all set up. I bought some other office supplies, and they arrived last week. I really like how I’ve set things up.

Halloween is this week, but it sure doesn’t feel that way. Normally, I’ve got a costume all ready to go to wear for the day, but not this time. I think I am just going to wear random hats all day and hopefully remember to take photos. I may watch a scary movie after work or something like that.
It’s also been a crazy warm October, so it’s weird to think that it’s almost over. There are still flowers blooming. It’s going to get really cold next week. We also just got hit with Tropical Storm Zeta, which is crazy weird to get hit with a storm that is still a tropical storm this far inland. Also, it’s the fourth or fifth tropical system that’s traveled the exact same path this year, which includes hitting here.
Bonus ghost story: So, if you’ve been following my blog this month, you know that I grew up in a haunted house, and I live there now. The most active room is an upstairs bedroom. But the scariest rooms are in the basement: the den and the canning room. The den is the worst. I don’t know what’s in there, but it’s not good. I never see an image of a person in my mind’s eye — like I do when I sense other spirits — when I’m in there. It’s more of just a widespread dark energy.
Before I put my office in my bedroom, I had it set up in the den. That was not wise. All night long, I would hear all kinds of noises. Bangs, creaks, thunks and more. A few times, things just randomly fell. I would spend eight hours a day in there, and that was by far the longest I’ve been in that room at once.
When I was younger, I tried to sleep in there a couple times — once when we had company and all the other beds were full and once when my room was being painted. I did not get one moment of sleep. I will turn the lights and/or TV on when I’m creeped out to help me fall asleep. But that didn’t even help. Both times I ended up sleeping on the couch upstairs.
One day, I would love to be able to afford to buy some ghost hunting equipment. I would love to be able to do a little of that, just to see what I could find. I wouldn’t want to do anything, though, that could provoke anything or make things worse. But it would be so fascinating!
Have a spooky Halloween! Until next time!
