Hello, boos and ghouls

Howdy! I can’t stop thinking about Halloween, so here’s another post about the best holiday of the year. I will start off by saying that I am now five pounds away from my first weight loss goal. It’s slow going, but the exercise equipment gifted to me has really helped a lot!

So, if you read my last post, you know I absolutely love Halloween, and I still get dressed up every year that I can. Well, usually I have to work on Halloween (booooo). Now, usually if I have to work, I still get dressed up. I usually end up being the only person or one of the few people who dress up. I won a Halloween contest either last year or the year before at work, but only three people dressed up.

But one year, I didn’t have to work. I was so excited. I lived at an apartment complex where they allowed trick-or-treaters, and there was going to be a costume party. So, I put aside my social anxiety, and I got dressed up and went. I talked to a couple people, but I wasn’t super social. I’m just not great at that. But, I won the costume contest! I won a $20 gift card, and I used it to by a winter coat.

Here is my award-winning costume.

This year, I just found out about a costume event that I could take part in from home. I am thinking about participating in it, and so I’m trying to figure out what costume to wear that doesn’t involve me having to buy anything. I have a ton of costumes to choose from, plus a house full of potential props. It will definitely involve a hat.

So, I found a couple old photos of me dressed up for Halloween, so enjoy:

And now I am going to tell you a bonus true ghost story. (Disclaimer: If you don’t believe in ghosts, stop reading and don’t comment on how you think it’s nonsense or whatever, please.) So, I’ll tell you a little bit about my “abilities.” I am not a psychic medium or anything like that, but I am what you might consider an empath. I feel people’s emotions, and that’s how I sense spirits. I cannot normally physically see them, but I can see them with my mind’s eye. It’s difficult to explain. I know if a spirit is good or bad and the emotions it’s feeling, I can usually sense how it died, and I can often sense if it’s male or female and sometimes the age.

I tell you all that so I can tell you this story. So, I was at a nature center in North Carolina many years ago. It was the middle of the week, so I was one of only a few people there. There was a trail that was about a mile long, and I decided to take a walk there. There was absolutely no one else around. It was so peaceful. Then it wasn’t. I felt like I was being watched. I looked around, and I didn’t see anyone. Then, I heard footsteps right behind me. I turned super quickly, and no one was there. But I knew “someone” was there. In fact, I could “see” them in my mind’s eye. I knew it was a Native American following me. I kept walking, and this time, when I heard the footsteps, I aimed my camera behind me without turning around, and I captured this:

Now, I know that it doesn’t seem like much, but I sure do think I captured who was following me. In fact, the moment I saw the photo right after taking it, I was excited that my feelings were correct. And what excited me even more was that I went home and researched the area. Native Americans did live there at one time. It was really, really amazing to have my feelings backed up by facts. I was not afraid, by the way. I could feel concern and curiosity, but no malice. It helped that it was in the middle of the day, which almost always makes spirit encounters less scary.

Until next time!
