Hello, hello. I woke up today feeling kind of blah. It’s probably a combination of fatigue and the fact that it’s my Monday.
I got bad news about work last night. I can’t go into too much detail, but someone got laid off, and that is going to result in more work for me and the rest of the copy desk. Work that none of us really know how to do, so that’s going to be lots of FUN. So, I’m really kind of bummed today. It’s also a very strong reminder that I will be losing my job soon as well.
My job search is going OK in that I did find a job as a freelance columnist. So, that is definitely a start. I hope it leads to more things, and I hope that it builds my skills and confidence to continue as a writer. I have settled in to the fact that I absolutely have to work remotely. Honestly, I really enjoy it. There is less stress, it’s a lot easier to concentrate, there is no commute (also less stress), I can spend more time with my mom, and, best of all, I get to eat a homecooked dinner every night. Every job that can be remote should be remote. I would imagine it saves money all around.
I have really always enjoyed writing. I do not like being a reporter because of all the human interaction. But I absolutely love writing. I also love doing research. In school, I loved writing essays and papers. Essays were my favorite part of a test. And I was just really, really good at research papers. Most people probably think that’s nuts, but I did love it so much. So it would be pretty cool to be paid to write.
I streamed on Twitch again last night, and I thought I would share a highlight here, so you can see how ridiculous I am while playing a game. I find it hilarious that a game from 1992 still scares the crap out of me.
Well, I’m off to get some exercise now that it’s warmed up a bit outside. Until next time!
