What an unusual 24 hours

Howdy, folks. Hope everyone is doing OK today. I am doing well mentally today, but my autoimmune condition decided to rear its ugly head. I’m generally OK, but my shoulder is KILLING me.

Every now and then, I get horrible inflammation in my joints. About 90 percent of the time, it’s my shoulder, and mostly my right shoulder. The rest of the time, it’s my wrists, fingers or ankles. It’s excruciating. I have a high pain tolerance, it comes with having a chronic condition. But this is something that is impossible to ignore. I can’t raise my arm. I can’t do much of anything. Even typing is a chore. It’s going to be an interesting day at work. I took some Aleve, but nothing really helps much. It just hurts for about 24 hours before it finally calms down.

Speaking of my condition, though, I have some really exciting news! Due to this blog, but mostly due to an awesome friend, I am going to be a columnist for BioNews, writing about my condition! Here is the site. I am extremely excited about this. Y’all, I’m going to be a paid writer! This isn’t a full-time job, so it’s not replacing the job I have now. But, that’s not a complaint, just an FYI. I really could not be any more excited about this! Read the last line in Chandler’s voice:

In other news, I got three packages delivered yesterday. Now, I ask you, what are the odds that I would order two things, which were shipping separately, and my aunt would send me something, and everything would arrive the same day via the same service? That was a weird one. The gift I got was really, really cool, and I can’t wait to try it out. It’s so wonderful to see so many people reading my blog, encouraging me and helping me to achieve my goals.

Isn’t this cool? I can’t wait to try it out!

I can’t wait to try this out! It will be perfect for exercising when it’s cold out, and it’s already getting cold out! I really wanted to get it out of the box and use it today, but my shoulder is keeping me from doing that. But I am super looking forward to using it.

I also was really proud of myself yesterday for changing my car insurance plan. I have driven my car maybe 15 miles in six months, and my premium was really too high — it was too high even if I were driving it, honestly. I have Allstate, and the reason I stay with them is because I have a $0 deductible with them that I earned a while back. Anyway, I am going to try out a new plan — it’s pay by the mile — which cut my premium in half. If I don’t like it, I can always change it in six months. But it sounds like a good plan for me right now.

On another note, I was having some weird work computer issues. I work from home, and my remote desktop was blurry and horrible. I couldn’t read much of anything. If I clicked on the laptop desktop, the remote desktop was readable again, but as soon as I did anything, it would go back to a mess. So, after a week of trying to get that fixed and somehow working — I would click on the laptop desktop every two seconds — it was finally fixed yesterday. The guy who helped me was very nice, and he had to collaborate with several people, as no one seemed to know how to fix it. Finally, someone on Slack gave him a solution, and it worked! Celebrations all around! So, if you’re working remotely, using a website to get to the remote desktop, and you’re remote desktop is a blurry mess of crap, here’s a solution: Try a different browser. I was using Chrome, and I changed it to Firefox. Boom, problem solved. What a relief, since I’m doing the front page, and it’s race week here in Bristol.

Oh, and one other thing: I got my absentee ballot in the mail today. I am going to vote! Yay!

Until next time!
