Good news, bad news

Hey, folks. I’m really bummed today. I have some good news and some bad news. I’ll start with the bad news, so I can end on the good news.

Well, I got a call from my rheumatologist’s office yesterday about my blood tests from a few weeks ago. They said that my ALT is high, indicating that I am having liver problems. I was told to not drink alcohol or take Tylenol, both of which I already don’t do. I was also told not to take my weekly meds this week. I already had an appointment scheduled for Monday, so I’m getting more bloodwork done then.

I’m not really sure what this means. I have a feeling that I’ve just been taking my current meds for too long, and it’s damaged my liver. I’ve been on methotrexate for 16 years or so, which is a long time to take that medicine. The reason I’m still on it is because it was working to keep my GPA at bay, and I had no side effects. Well, now I am having a really bad side effect.

I want to point out that I feel perfectly fine. I mean, aside from the panic attack I had last night, I don’t feel any different than I usually do. If anything, because of the diet and exercise, I feel really well. The only issues I’ve been having are related to me going through menopause. When I go to the doctor, I am going to mention the menopause — and I’m sure I’ll be met with “You’re too young to be going through that.” And I’ll have to be prepared for that. I will also mention the diet and exercise.

I am thinking that I will probably have to change meds. There are several different kinds to take regarding this condition. I really hope they don’t recommend the one that I know of that is so insanely expensive that I would have to apply for a medical card to help pay for it.

Onto the good news: I did finish cleaning out the storage room yesterday. That was a lot of work, but it’s done! Also, I managed to successfully get rid of the yellowjacket nest that was on the porch. I’m sure if anyone had been watching, they would have gotten some good laughs, as removal involved a broom, bucket, snow shovel and lots of yelling. But it’s gone, and no one got stung! I am so relieved I saw that before me or my mom accidentally kicked it or something.

Yellowjacket nest. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Until next time!
